Kristin Neff

Try this self-compassion letter writing exercise out today.

  • Think of something you are struggling with at the moment. Perhaps its something you are judging yourself or, or maybe a difficult relationship in your life, or some way in which you feel “not good enough”.
  • Write a letter to yourself from the perspective of a caring family member or good friend. What would they say to you? What would they say to you which would embody compassion and empathy.
  • Save the letter and re-read it after some time has passed.
  • Feel the sense of kindness and compassion that fills you as you read the letter to yourself.
